2025 CHARM CITY FREE LATE PICK 5 HANDICAPPING CONTEST RULES
REGISTRATION AND SELECTIONS
CharmCityPick5.com is the place to participate in LAUREL PARK RACETRACK’S “2025 CHARM CITY LATE PICK 5 HANDICAPPING CONTEST” (CONTEST) during this year’s Thoroughbred Summer meet.
The CONTEST begins May 23, 2025, and concludes when the last Laurel Park Race Track live race is declared “official” on June 29, 2025.
Players must register by 11:00 am on June 1, 2025. By doing so, players have accepted the 2025 Contest RULES by 11:00 am on May 23, 2025.
PRIZE AWARDS:
Select the day’s Charm City Late Pick 5: $1,000
- Please note: This excludes any scratched horse to the wagering favorite. All selections must be your original selections. If more than one winner selects all five races correctly, the $1,000 prize will be split equally among those players.
Highest total bankroll based on pari-mutuel payouts from a $2.00 across-the-board wager ($2.00 win, place & show) on player’s selections.
GRAND PRIZE: $1,000 Cash, SECOND PLACE: $500 Cash, THIRD PLACE: $250 Cash, MOST WINNERS BONUS PRIZE: $250 Cash.
Prize winners determined ineligible to participate in the CONTEST will be disqualified from that position and the player with the next highest category total will be accordingly awarded.
ELIGIBILITY
CONTEST participants must be 18 years or older at the time of entry, possess a valid email address, and be a legal resident of Maryland, unless otherwise permitted by Maryland law. Participation by residents of other states or countries is subject to all applicable laws and may be restricted or prohibited.
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. One (1) entry per person. Persons submitting more than one (1) email registration will be disqualified and will not be eligible to earn awards.
Registration is limited to four (4) entries per household and/or network. Players will receive a warning if a 5th entry is detected from the same household/network. The Maryland Jockey Club and Laurel Park Racetrack reserve the right to verify eligibility and compliance with these rules. Any attempt to submit more than the permitted number of entries, or to circumvent eligibility requirements, will result in disqualification of all associated entries.
The Maryland Jockey Club and Laurel Park Racetrack employees, vendors, and contractors including the Maryland Thoroughbred Racetrack Operating Authority and their immediate families, persons residing in jurisdictions where participation in the CONTEST is prohibited by law, and any individual prohibited by law from participating in the CONTEST, are ineligible to participate.
SCORING
The CONTEST is a FREE on-line contest. Participants are required to sign up via an email address, log on to the CONTEST, and select at least one entry only in each of the last five races on the days of the CONTEST. You MUST make a selection in all five (5) races, prior to the first race of the late pick sequence.

Players must make all selections personally. Participants are credited with a mythical $2.00 win (1st), place (2nd), and show (3rd) or “across-the-board” wager on each of their selections. The total mutuel payouts according to the Equibase official race results will be credited to the participant’s mythical bankroll throughout the participant’s eligibility.
EXAMPLE, if:
- Your selection in CONTEST RACE #1 finishes 2nd, paying $5.60 to place and $3.10 to show.
- Your selection in CONTEST RACE #2 does not finish first, second, or third (off the board).
- Your selection in CONTEST RACE #3 finishes 3rd, paying $3.20 to show.
- Your selection in CONTEST RACE #4 finishes 1st, paying $6.00 to win, $4.00 to place and $2.80 to show.
- Your selection in CONTEST RACE #5 finishes 3rd, paying $4.60 to show.
Your mythical bankroll will be credited or increased by $29.30 on that day: (Adding up Race 1- $8.70, Race 2- $0, Race 3- $3.20, Race 4- $12.80 and Race 5- $4.60).
The CONTEST scoring is based on pari-mutuel information as supplied by Equibase.
SCRATCH RULE
If your selection is scratched at any time when the CONTEST is still open for selections, or “in play,” and if you do not make another selection, or if your selection is scratched after the first contest race, you automatically receive the post-time (off-time) favorite in that race. If the post-time favorite is a coupled “entry,” you receive both or all three (3) horses in the entry and will be credited with the mutuel payout accordingly.
COUPLED ENTRY RULE
When you select a coupled horse, or an “entry” (i.e. #1 & #1A or #2 & #2X), you are betting both horses in that “entry.” If one of the coupled horses is scratched, you remain on the other coupled horse and not the post-time favorite. If the entire coupled entry (or in case there is a three (3) horse entry) are listed as scratched, you will receive the post-time favorite.
SELECTION TIMES
All race selections must be made no less than thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the first race of that day’s CONTEST. Remember, this will be the last five races EACH day of the CONTEST. If post-time for the first CONTEST race is 12:50 pm, all your selections must be made by 12:20 pm on the day’s program.
Remember, you can change your selections at any time prior to thirty (30) minutes to post-time of the first CONTEST race.

Awards are based on highest accumulated pari-mutuel payout total (bankroll). The participant with the highest accumulated pari-mutuel payout total (bankroll) at the end of the CONTEST (June 29, 2025) will be declared the GRAND PRIZE winner.
Prizes for 2nd and 3rd third highest bankrolls will be awarded as well as BONUS PRIZES to the participant selecting the most WINNERS (first-place finishers) and the player with the HIGHEST WEEKLY BANKROLL (Friday through Sunday) during the CONTEST season.
In the event of a tie for the highest accumulated pari-mutuel total (bankroll), the player selecting the most first-place finishers will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie in the “MOST WINNERS” category, the player with the highest accumulated pari-mutuel total for winners only will be declared the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie in the “MOST WINNERS” category, also achieving a tie in the highest accumulated pari-mutuel total, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner.
In the event of a tie in the “HIGHEST WEEKLY BANKROLL” category, the player with the most winners that week will be declared the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie for most winners in the “HIGHEST WEEKLY BANKROLL” category, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner.
Players may access a daily leader board listing each participant’s current standings and race selections post “selection times.”
Winners will be notified via email.
BONUS PRIZE
If a participant correctly selects the CHARM CITY LATE PICK 5 (all 5 races) on any given day, a bonus of $1,000 will be awarded. Please note: All selections must be your original selections. A post-time favorite due to a scratch deems the entry not eligible for the Bonus Prize (but remains eligible for the bankroll calculation). If more than one winner selects all five races correctly, the $1,000 prize will be split equally among those players.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
To enter the CONTEST, registration must be made at the CharmCityPick5.compage by completing the mandatory fields on the electronic sign-up form, and must be completed by 11:00am EDT, June 1, 2025.
Written, faxed, and hand-delivered registrations will NOT be accepted under any circumstances. By entering the CONTEST, entrant agrees to abide by the decisions of The Maryland Jockey Club, Laurel Park Racetrack and its corporate partners and release and hold harmless The Maryland Jockey Club, Laurel Park Racetrack, 123Racing, its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, trustees, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with any awards or prize(s) won.
All decisions in the administration of the CONTEST are final and binding. Information submitted in the registration for the CONTEST may be retained by Laurel Park Racetrack and used for marketing, research, or other purposes. The CONTEST is void where prohibited by law and is governed by the laws of the United States of America and the State of Maryland. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to notify The Maryland Jockey Club, Laurel Park Racetrack either in writing or via email of any changes in his or her email address. Prize winners may be required to complete, sign, and return an affidavit of eligibility. Acceptance of any prize award as a result of the entrant’s participation in the CONTEST grants permission to Laurel Park Racetrack to use the name, likeness, or photograph of that participant for publicity purposes without additional compensation. All federal, state, and local taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winners of prizes valued at $600 or more will be required to provide a valid taxpayer identification number and will receive an IRS Form 1099 for the value of the prize.
The Maryland Jockey Club, Laurel Park Racetrack and its corporate partners and release and hold harmless, and its partners reserve the right to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to corrupt the entry process, or the operation of the CONTEST, or website, or acts in a disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other participant.
Any attempt to defraud the CONTEST administrators or contestants will result in disqualification and all decisions by Laurel Park Racetrack in the administration of the CONTEST are final.
Laurel Park Racetrack is not responsible for lost, interrupted, unavailable, defective, or damaged hardware, software, and electric, wireless, or telephone transmissions or technical failures, garbled transmissions, and the unavailability of its website or any website associated with the CONTEST.
Laurel Park Racetrack promises to make every effort to notify you via email of any technical failures and updates: however, due to the unpredictable nature of present, state-of-the-art computer technology, server outages may occur resulting in your elimination from the survival game. We regret this unfortunate possibility. By agreeing to the terms and conditions of the CONTEST herein, you fully recognize that Laurel Park Racetrack, and its vendors, are not responsible for such errors.
CANCELLATION POLICY
The Maryland Jockey Club and Laurel Park Racetrack reserve the right to at any time cancel or suspend the CONTEST without individual notice to participants or prospective participants by posting such notice on its website, and shall bear neither obligation nor liability to award any prizes in the event of a cancellation or suspension. In the event of contest cancellation due to circumstances beyond the control of the Maryland Jockey Club or Laurel Park Racetrack, Laurel Park reserves the right to award prizes based on entries received prior to cancellation, or to cancel the awarding of prizes if required by law.
If anyone (1) of the five (5) races selected for the CONTEST are cancelled for any reason, all other race selections will remain valid. If more than three (3) of the five (5) selected races are cancelled, all selections become invalid for the race day.
If any selected race is cancelled, the Bonus Prize is not eligible to be won.
Every effort will be made to notify participants of cancellation via email or website notice.
